What patients see

Learn what it is like for patients to engage with messages sent via the Hero platform.

In this article we will be covering how a patient can engage with communications sent by Hero, and explore how you can enhance your communication with appointment invite links, questionnaire links and patient replies.

How do patients open links?

Once you have sent a message to a patient they will receive an email or SMS, depending on which contact method you selected. If you have attached a appointment invite, questionnaire, document or allowed the patient to reply, then the patient will also receive a link in the message. Patient can access the link by following this simply step by step process.

  1. Open the SMS or email they have received

  2. Click on the link - this will open in their browser

  3. Verify their date of birth

Once the patient has verified their date of birth they will be able to access the appointment invite, questionnaire, attachment or reply option they have been sent.

How do patient access the link?

When you send a message through Hero you will have selected a patient to which it will be sent. Hero automatically detects the patient's date of birth and protects any links created within the message builder.

What happens if the patient gets their date of birth wrong?

If a patient gets their date of birth wrong they will not be able to access the content of the link and will be asked to try again. In the event that the patient gets their date of birth wrong 5 times in a row, the link will be deactivate to prevent bad actors from accessing the information behind the link.

What happens if I paste a link into the message?

Patient will be able to access links that you paste into the message, however these will not be protected with date of birth verification. Only links that have been created within the message builder will be protected with date of birth verification.

What if patients can't open links on their phone?

In the event a patient does not have a smart phone and therefore can not open the link on their phone, they can still write out the link on a computer and go through the date of birth verification.
